Will Smith

Position: Killer Whales Swim Team Coach
A smiling man with a beard, wearing sunglasses and a cap, sits outdoors in front of a colorful mural.

Will grew up in Southern Idaho and swam competitively beginning around age 8, continuing through high school. He swam in both a small league called Sagebrush Swim Legue (Similar to 4 Rivers that Cascade Swim Team is a part of) and USA Swimming. He later dabbled on a club water polo team at the University of Idaho.

Will moved to Valley County in 2008 and has been swimming at the Cascade Rec Center since its
construction.

"The thing I like about coaching swimming is the journey – we don’t know at the beginning what the end is going to look like. Kids may start as a shy, timid person, and they become a strong capable individual
because of all the ups and downs, highs and lows, and victories and defeats along the way. Swimming
teaches us much more than simply propelling oneself through water. It teaches discipline, resilience
through failure, and the value of consistency and dedication. I am proud to be a part of this great group of young athletes and their supportive families who encourage them to chase their dreams." -Will
